Ronald Regan once said that the nine most terrifying words in the English language are “I’m from the Government and I’m here to help.” President Reagan was correct in his assessment that those words are truly terrifying, however, I believe that phrase would hold no weight if it weren’t for another phrase. This phrase you can hear in every sociology or woman’s studies class across all colleges in the United States. You can hear it at every major Hollywood party or uttered in every Starbucks from suburban mom’s or a hipster who is writing their screenplay. Cousin to the “I’m raising awareness” phrase, this single phrase has become a go to when privileged elitists wants to feel morally superior to the everyday person. That single phrase is, “someone should do something about this.”

Much like that feeling of being superman that steroids gives to athletes, the simple utterance of this phrase makes almost any politician put his hands on his hips and pump his chest out and say “I will fight for your cause.” You see to a conservative, (AKA someone that work for a living) they might have a cause and say I am going to do something about this and give to charity or volunteer for that said cause. They do this because A.) they know that Government is not very efficient and B.) they realize it may not be other people’s cause and want to let other people chose how to use their own time and money.

This isn’t enough for the guy living in his mom’s basement or the young lady blogger living in her apartment paid for by her dad. They need to gain their moral superiority fix by voting in someone who will take money from others, by force , and inefficiently distribute it to the cause of their choosing. Somehow, amazingly, having never lifted a finger or spent any money themselves these young do-gooders are still able to lift their noses at people and say all over their Facebook posts and Blogs how good of people they are and how evil the people are who don’t vote for the person that wants to help their cause. They fawn over a politician who spends none of their own money or time, but manages to swindle the taxpayer out of more money to give to others but not before providing some kickbacks to their friends who helped them get into office.

I have news for all you latte drinking jerks who love to call anyone with conservative values a ” racist, sexist, poor people hating idiot who doesn’t care about anyone but themselves.” Conservatives spend a lot more money and donate a lot more time to charities compared to liberals and the ratio is not even close. I guarantee, if some liberal ever decides to read this article they will say to themselves, “well I give to charity” and that might be true, but overall conservatives are much more generous than liberals. You can check nearly every legitimate statistical data offered and they will all read the same way, however my time is too valuable to cite it all, so find it yourself you bum.

The only thing that voting for someone who will take from someone and give to someone else does is expand the size and power of the very, very inefficient Government. Now if you ever look at history you will see that the citizens of nations with big and powerful Governments never fare too well, in fact, these Governments tend to end up in famine, starvation, and mass murder. That is why President Reagan’s words ring so true, but they would be nowhere near as terrifying if it weren’t for this phrase that provides so much power to the Government. So please next time you feel bad about something going on in the world, put down the remote and your bong, and go put some time or money into it yourself, or admit that you don’t really care that much and continue to scarf down that bag of Cool Ranch Doritos.
